Google Deletion Fix

A few users noticed trouble deleting entries, particularly appointments, since yesterday.  We tracked it down to Google's new library and found a spot where, if their HTTP server issues a redirect, some necessary information is lost when it retries, causing the operation to fail.  It is pretty rare, as it only affects deletion and only if there is also a redirect.

We made a fix and built the Google libraries ourselves, which we deployed a little bit ago.  So far we have not seen any similar messages in the logs and we are no longer able to reproduce the problem.

Happy syncing!

Hi,
How's it looking for syncing multiple calendars? Currently I'm using Nemusync but it's got some stability issues with 2.2 firmware.

On a different subject, has anyone had trouble with contacts that have been synced to Google Contacts? Over time, I've noticed that contacts have lost their associated URLs, and that addresses show up in the iPhone with city, state, and nation repeated in the 2nd address line. So I might have an address entry that looks like:

1234 Fako Ave
Chicago, IL
United States
Chicago, IL
United States

Is this an issue with Google or Nuevasync?

@jay
It syncs all calendars you have write access to, but are displayed as only one calendar on iPhone's end right now. We are told that they are working on making use of the multicalendar thing, as well as contact groups as we speak though.

This service is amazing. As a previous blackberry user I was so annoyed to have to plug in my phone to sync every day and have it be out of date by 10am.

A couple feature requests.
1) Multiple calendars
2) If and when you have multiple calendars, the ability to do only one way sync would be good as well. I say this because I use something to sync my lotus notes with google calendar. Then nueva syncs it and after a little while end up getting multiple entries of the same event. It would be nice to make my work calendar only come down stream from google. While let my personal calendar go both ways.

Great product.

also:

Is it possible to have it not sync a certain calendar that is on google calendar.

I share my wifes calendar and her events now show up on my iPhone too.

Guys, do you have some estimates on email and task syncing?

Any more info on what C.E. Perry said re: duplicated entries? I am a bit reluctant to switch over to Google Contacts and then having to regularly clean up contacts...

Btw, does Google Contacts support photos and birthdays?

@Andrew:
I believe multi-calendar is being worked on. And I'd LOVE to have granular control of sync directions, and or sync at all too!

I have several calendars (6 to be precise), and most of them I want only read only access on my iPhone even though I do have write access on them on google calendar -- because I'm administrator of the google apps for domain owner domain.

So if I can choose to Sync them down in read-only, or choose to not sync them, it'd be great!

@helge:
I've never encountered the duplicate address issue, so I cannot comment on that. However, Google contacts does support photo, but not birthday.

Today all of a sudden all my contacts dissappeared. Was the service temporarily interrupted? I like this service but would like to know that it is stable

To c.e.perry:

I've contacted Nuevasync about this issue before, and they're aware of the problem. They think it's a Nuevasync issue (not a Google issue), and they assured me that they'll be working on fixing that problem.

Well my contacts stopped syncing, supposedly due to that Google authorization token problem. But my calendar hasn't synced in at least two days either, and I can't get the nuevasync website to respond at all. Is the service down? Is anyone home?

c.e. perry: I'm having the same issue. What it looks like is happening is that the entire address is being put into the street field of the WM address book and not being split into street, city, state, zip. Then, at some point it is being split, but the whole address is left in the street field still.

(I just emailed Nueva support with this issue, but what the heck though I should hit up the blog too). . .

Anyway I'm having the same address field problem as c.e. perry mentioned in the 2nd comment on this post.

Even after trying to clean up the wonky street addresses, the problem always seems to come back. Very frustrating and weird. . .
