iPhone Multiple Calendar Support Fully Deployed

All existing users now have multiple calendar support enabled. The next time your device syncs it should pick up colored calendars. No user intervention is required. Sync status logging is still turned off so the sync status page will not display correct information yet. It might say that your sync has an error when in fact it succeeded.

I still have no contacts. I turned contacts off then on but nothing.

Excellent job. I'm off to the main site to see how I can donate $.

The color calendars work fine, btw, it is just the contacts that are all still missing on my iphone.

Awesome. Thanks!

And in regards to the randomness of color choices of calendars on the iPhone. I think you guys should see if you can figure out how this connection works between iPhone and MobileMe. The colors of the MobileMe calendar correspond to the colors of the same calendar on the iPhone. So it would seem that Apple is sending this information to the phone witch each sync.

Great! colouring is coming out from my iphone

All my colored dots are yellow. No other colors show up. I have 5 calendars.

What's the quick fix for that?

Awesome service and happy it's back up. Great job guys! The sleepless nights paid off :-)

Everything is working great on my end.

Thanks!

Wow! Great job. This is a wonderful effort and aims to please. Biggups to the whole Nuevasync team.

High Level Guy said...

I logged into nuevasync.com and reset the calendar folder settings, and the colors are now fine, ie no longer is every dot yellow.

However, two of my calendar share the same color.. (you guessed it! yellow)

Anyone know the fix pls post here.

Greg Raiz said...

Great work. The colors will be a nice touch but just seeing them in different colors is a great start.

What else is on the long-term roadmap?

Matt Gordon said...

The yellow dot is a problem that occurs when you play with the iphone before it has fully finished syncing.

To fix: go into the calendar settings and disable the calendar. Then reenable it, wait for it to fully finish syncing before you modify the calendar (dont press the calendars button either).

As for aligning the colours, I heave read up a bit, but I cant find a reliable and easy way of doing it.
However, the colours will order themselves red orange blue green purple with the first synced calendar getting red, the second getting orange and so on. You can fiddle with the nueva settings panel on the website so the iphone syncs 1 calendar and thus assure it gets a colour.

Hope that all made sense

Excellent work!
I love Nuevasync in my iPhone!!

Gotta say, finally! This is really the last thing I needed for my Ipod to be complete. Lol. I'm not sure what that problem is with the yellow color and black font. It's appearing on my default calendar, but none of the others. Everything seems to be working great though. Thanks again for such a great service!

Can I get this to work with WM. I got 6 calendars on google but the categories doesn't sync, in my phone I it says "No category" on all events?

Therefor if I create an event on the phone I can't choose what calendar I want it to be placed in...

Anyone??

Thank you so much, it popped up on my iPhone around 9pm GMT last night, I did a quick resync and the colours changed but now it's all stable.

Really, really pleased! Get your donations box up on the homepage!

Well done guys, its working beautifully for me (I'm in Australia). I've been a user since about August-2008 so nice to finally have multiple calendar support.

As soon as you guys get your scaling sorted, I'd be happy to pay for this service. I reckon about a quarter to one third of a Mobile Me subscription would be about right.

I have noticed that I can edit a shared calendar that I have "Read Only" access to. It would be nice to set colour preferences, but it's still very usable as-is.

Thanks again

Pedro said...

Great job !
So bad the colors aren't the good ones. Any chances to fix this ? At least by choosing colors in the Nuevasync administration ?

Unknown said...

Does anyone know the answer to these questions?

Is there a way to move an event from one calendar to another using Edit on the iPhone? The Calendar field doesn't show in Edit mode so the only way would be to delete the entry and recreate it picking a different calendar choice.

Also, when I use the + to make a new entry, the default Calendar shows as Google's US Holidays calendar which is Read Only. I have a calendar called Home set as my default on both Google and my Nuevasync account page. Any idea how to change my iPhone calendar to see Home as the default when I go to make a new entry?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Unknown said...

you can't change the calendar in a old event. the same problem is by mobile me. you must create a now entry or go to google calendar and change it.

you can change the default calendar in mail settings on iphone.

Unknown said...

@Andreas...thanks! I fixed the second issue. Hope they find a work-around for the first one sometime soon.

It's 17 January 2009 and 12:07 GMT . I have all my contacts deleted from my phone. I trusted nueavesync. what a shame.

Can you add sync of CONTACT GROUPS
That would be cool

aggieben said...

Contact groups would be cool, but first things first, eh? A lot of us don't have any contact data on our phones because contact sync isn't working right. I'm growing weary of having to look at old texts to see to whom the phone numbers in my history belong.

I figured out a way to pick the colors for your iphone calendars in a somewhat predictable way.

As indicated by one of the developers, it seems the colors are picked in the order of calendars that are synced. And the colors seem to not be completely random. This seems to be the order, as far as I could establish

0) Yellow (default)
1) Red
2) Orange
3) Blue
4) Green
5) Purple
6) Red
7) Orange

For me, primary (default) calendar always syncs as yellow. To get the colors from the list above stuck to your google calendars, you need to go into nuevasync calendar list, and deselect everything, submit, then turn on one calendar at a time, knowing that the first one will be Red, second Orange, third Blue, and etc. If you do this in the exact order, you can assign these specific colors to the calendars you like, and it seems so far to be stable.

After 5th color (Purple) the color list seems to repeat. So your 6th calendar will be Red again, and 7th Orange... which with default yellow calendar, makes 8 total calendars that you can sync.

Using this method, I was able to get my color setup established, other than the weird yellow color for my primary calendar. There doesn't seem to be a way to change that...

fantastic job guys!
for me, this makes the best iphone extension even better!
thanks a lot for your dedication and effort.

Seems that nuevasync will not allow you to turn off syncing for the "default" calendar account (the original anchor/primary account that you started gCal with) and that this will always show up as Red or Orange as the first syncing calendar (Orange in my case, for whatever reason).

Since I really dislike Orange/Red, I created a new calendar in gCal, exported my events from my default/anchor/primary calendar, then imported those into my newly created calendar - for instructions on how to do this, see the gCal help area. I named the default calendar "default" and the new one "Home" and then deleted all events from the default calendar and set it to not display at gCal.

Next, I turned off syncing on the iPhone, logged into nuevasync, and made sure that only the empty default calendar was set to sync. Turned syncing back on at the iPhone, allowed the sync to finish without pressing any buttons and voila, I had an empty calendar assigned to the orange color.

Next, I went back into the Nuevasync control panel and turned on syncing for my real calendars in the order that I wanted color to appear: holidays (red), home (blue), wife (green), etc. After turning each calendar sync on, I closed and opened the calendar on the iphone and waited until the new calendar appeared (just a few seconds).

The end result is forcing the color assignment to the calendars in the way I wanted. A bit awkward, but seems to stick. Would be great to have a way to control this in the Nuevasync settings.

For beta software, this is pretty good so far. Still a ways to go before it's polished. Keep up the great work guys!

Here is the color ordering that I've experienced on multiple tries:

1) Orange
2) Red
3) Blue
4) Green
5) Purple

Ameet said...

My color order;

1) Red (read/write)
2) Red (read/write)
3) Orange (read only)
4) Blue (read only)
5) Green (read only)
6) Purple (read only)
7) Orange (read only)
8) Blue (read only)

i never got yellow, default was blue, if i add one more, default became red.

Nuevasync color is independent of Google calendar color.

This is great! Thanks so much. While I could figure out the calendar and deal with one color, this sure looks a lot better! Very classy!

Well the calendar works for me, but all my contacts are gone now. :(

Steve said...

Contacts just disappeared. Still have calendar.

Big Luey said...

Calendar is working fine for me but the contacts are not syncing properly. I get all my contacts from gmail fine but all the groups are gone. I really love Nuevasync but as of now I am syncing with the iPhone app Sync in a Blink. It works really well for syncing contacts including group sync. Its $4.99 but worth it for now until nuevasync gets things working right. But the other problem now is that 3rd party apps are crashing in the 2.2 update. I found out to fix this I delete one small app and download it again. After that things are fine with all other apps.

very awesome to see how this project is progressing, been a user since august, loving every minute of it (even the downtime lol, it's just fun somehow)
i am having a small issue though since the multi calendar is now enabled on my phone it seems like my us holidays calendar is missing some events (new years day and eve are what i have noticed thus far, however other january events show up) the same is happening with other calendars, as well

keep up the good work :)

I was sick as a dog all weekend, but I wanted to pop on and let you know that my calendars are syncing and they are all different colors.

Yes, my default calendar was random, but I fixed it.

Now my only request is, if I have to do a full reset, could it please put my calendar events back for the last several months like it used to? December (in which I have some events I refer to now) is now blank on the phone, and full of events on google.

You guys totally, totally rock. Despite adversity, you persevered, and now it works great. Thanks!

Thanks guys! I've been waiting for this and checking back regularly to the blog. Today I opened up the calendar on my iPhone and saw colors! It was like fireworks! But better.

Blogged it here:
http://technestreport.com/blog/2009/01/20/at-long-last-sync-iphoneipod-touch-with-google-calendar-over-the-air-with-multiple-calendars/

Planning on discussing it on the TechNest Report podcast this Friday the 23rd.

Nice work guys! I was still getting all black-on-yellow. I went into Calendar settings and did the reset thing, which gave me all new colors except for 1, which was still the weird black-on-yellow scheme.

What I did then was turn off calendar syncing from my iPhone, do the calendar reset in NuevaSync, then turned syncing on my iPhone back on. Now all the calendars on my iPhone have normal-looking colors.

Signed up to get multiple calendars, when following the instructions for the iphone install i cannot create more than one MS account! Have I missed something?

Thanks! I just found Nuevasync yesterday. This is great!

Yet, I was curious if in the future I could sync more than eight calendars? I have 32. =) Yes, I need them all.

Thanks for all the hard work!!
