iPhone/iPod Default Calendar

We're not yet up to date on the web site with all the tips and tricks for the iPhone multiple calendar feature. Here's one useful thing: for reasons not yet clear the iPhone sometimes picks a 'default calendar' seemingly at random. This can be annoying because when new events are created on the device they are assigned to the default calendar unless another one is explicitly selected. We intend the default to be your Google main calendar but this doesn't seem to always be the case. Until we get this resolved, it will be necessary to change the default calendar after the initial sync. This can be done in the settings page, under 'Mail, Contacts, Calendar...', scroll down 'till you see 'Default Calendar'.

I am missing past events/appointments in my calendars. It seems that recurring events are still there but all or most of any events past 30 days are not syncing. this is an issue on both my phone and my wife's phone.

Anyone else having this issue?

I have the same problem with missing events on my iPhone. After colored/multiple calendars were activated I lost all events older than 2 weeks old, except recurring events. I have been using Nuevasync since September 2008 so have lost about 4 months of "old" events from my phone. I am aware of the 2 week limit on syncing past events, but am annoyed that events were deleted from my phone as a result of an "upgrade."

Sorry this is slightly off-topic, but now that multiple calendars have better support in NuevaSync, are there any plans to map the Calendar Name in Google with Category in Windows Mobile?

Since WinMo doesn't support the concept of multiple calendars (grrr...), that would help map events to the correct place if we create them on the device. Any category which didn't map to a Calendar name would then just go to the default calendar.

Anyway, thanks for the great job on this service and keep up the good work!

Just signed up and everything seems to be working well. Moved an appointment and the phone was updated.

So far so good!

hmmmm...

seems to be a little glitch with my calendar syncing.

wireless at work is down at the moment. hopefully this will not be a problem once it is back up again, but here is what happened.

1. added some items to google calendar while at work, knowing they would sync for my wife's ipod at home through home wireless network. She got those ok. however, they did not sync with my ipod when i got home which is what i would have expected.

2. added some items to my ipod while at work, as i wanted to make sure i had those particular times in easy reach. When i got home, those synced to my wife ok.

3. my wife added some items to her ipod today while I was at work. these items have not synced to my ipod since coming home.

does this mean there might be problems sometimes if more than one device is synced to a specific calendar?

this is the first time something like this has happened (apart from the outage the other day).

still really loving the service.

I find the default calendar will switch from time to time, even after you set a default in settings.

My default calendar also randomly changed from red to yellow with black text today. All has been stable since Friday night so I was surprised to see a change this morning.

The service still rocks.

follow up - turning calendars off and back on again in settings puts the colors, but not the default calendar, back to normal.

In my case, all new calendars were sorted in the iPhone alphabetically. The default calendar turned out to be the first one in that alphabetic list. Maybe it was truly "random" for others...

Hi!,

I'm am having the same problem as Genine:
Missing past events/appointments in calendars. It seems that recurring events are still there but all or most of any events past 30 days are not syncing. I have the same problem in 2 iphones with different calendars.

Thanks in advance,

It is not that simple that you set you iPhone to only sync one month back in time ?

Settings > Mail, contacts, calendar > Sync > Events one month back

Another problem but since I had no response to my support email I'll try here.

The organizer of an event does not get synced at all and does not show up under "Attendees". That's kinda nice if you're the organizer but if it's someone else you have no idea who.

What?? said...

Recurring events are getting multiplied by 7 (as in 7 entries at the same time on a single day) all of a sudden...why?

Manel said...

Hi Markstrom,

I sync all the events (no date limitations...).
In one of the iphones, for example, I can just view the cyclic appointments from 5-1-09, and all the other appointments from 13-1-09.

I've found this in the Nuevasync FAQ,

"Before contacting our support team, remember that at present we do not sync public or other read-only shared calendars. So events in those will not be synced. Also, we only sync events that pertain to the future and up to 2-weeks into the past (regardless of how long you configured your device to sync back in time)."

What a pitty...I prefer one calendar fully suported, that eight with limitations....

My Gmail Calendar colors are not the same as the iPhone calendar colors. Is this normal, or is there a way to have the colors the same. I organize my appointment types by color so I see what type of appointment I have coming up. While the feature is wicked cool, if I can't select the proper color it messes me up.

Thoughts?

Hi Mitchell,

I've found this in the Nuevasync FAQ (http://www.nuevasync.com/faq.html),

"The colors of the calendars on my iPhone/iPod do not match the colors at Google. Can I change them to match?

Not on the device. The colors on the device are chosen automatically and as of firmware 2.2, cannot be changed manually. However, you can easily change them at Google to match what the device has picked."

Good Luck with the colours! ;)

Thanks, I had a shared Google calendar set as my default, but it was easy to fix -- changed my default to my own main calendar.

I am having some of the problems listed here.

Recurring appointments being entered / duplicated 7 times.

Some events present on google calendar but not on iphone (created on iphone)

We have 2 neuvasync accounts synching 2 iphones with 1 google calendar
