Service Status

The servers weren't quite able to keep up with their workload during the busy part of the day Thursday but are operating normally now. As load rises on Friday morning it is possible that service will degrade again. We are working on two fronts to address our overload problems: 1) deploying additional server capacity and 2) making a performance optimization in the software. One or both of these measures will be introduced on Friday to address our increased load.
The heavy traffic over the last few days is due to two things. First the transition to multiple calendars generates more work for the servers. Second, we have three times as many new users signing up every day than we did last week.
The status on the transition to multiple calendars is as follows: about half our users have had the feature enabled. Roughly 75% of their devices have made the transition. When we're sure that most of the eligible devices have transitioned and the current performance and capacity issues have been addressed, the remaining users will then be multical-enabled.
The web page that reports sync status and the elapsed time since the last successful sync will display incorrect information at present. This is because the recording of the status and error data has been temporarily disabled to reduce disk traffic (and improve overall reliability).

all the skills.

the function I rely on the most (simple calendar push to ipod and ical) works like a charm now.

I think I speak for a reasonable percentage of us when I say - add a contribute button, already!

"The heavy traffic over the last few days is due to" .... the fact that you have provided a fantastic service. I echo junn's comment about a contribute buttons.

You guys are great and I would love to be able to pay for this and make you rich. As long as you throw a party in France those of us in this neck of the woods can come to.

Only one issue remains, as I now have folder colours and all is OK.

I have asked my calendar to sync last 6 months, but I only get appointments going back one month.

Is this a bug or a feature? Is there a workaround ?

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks again.

You are a fantastic team plese add a contribute button, this service is better than mobile.me

The problems of my contacts are resolved. My calendar is still in one colour. But this is not a problem.
The problem is that during the servers inactivity I've discovered all the importance of your service.
For this reason I think that you have to evaluate the opportunity to distinguish a free service (limited) from a pay service (full).

I have to admit that yesterday I suffered from frustrated amusement as my contacts would be just fine, and then gone, and then fine, and then gone, and then fine again. My calendar didn't seem to vanish during the day yesterday, mostly just contacts.

I'm glad things are getting back to normal, but I agree with the rest - add a contribute button!

But, again, thanks for the great service. What you guys are doing is awesome!

Would it help reduce server load if folks turned off push and went with hourly synchronization instead?

Thanks for the update. As of 7am ET the calendar function is up and running for me. Thanks so much. I can't get through my day without it. Looks like you have a product people want. Nice job.

When are you going to start charging? I would be willing to pay if this will help you get into a position to make this a more reliable service and I'd also love to have the push email please!!

Unknown said...

8:35am (EST) and no calendar/contact function back yet for me (FYI). Love the service and agree also willing to pay to make it a fullscale service.

My contacts are still gone, even after sync.

Unknown said...

I added a calendar entry for today on gmail which then seemed to trigger a sync and I got my calendar and all my contacts back. does anybody know how to force a sync with exchange? I know how to do it when you have a mailbox but not when you only have contacts/calendar. Thanks

My calendars are syncing, but are all the same color - yellow. If I go to the settings and turn off the calendar sync then back on, it chooses different colors, erases data, re-inputs data and changes colors back to all yellow. I know this is temporary, I am only trying to help you guys with this INCREDIBLE service! Can't wait to see what else happens.

jmvidal said...

Also, if I create a new contact on the iphone the iphone syncs and the new contact disappears, so I'm automatically back to zero contacts.

Unknown said...

HOORAY HOORAY!!!
At 8:45 EST I am synced and have colors!

Thanks.
Please let us know where to contribute to your awesome efforts and success! NO ONE ELSE is doing this as well (including MMe....)

Someone else posted this and I found it worked for me too.

If you find that your calendars are going to yellow, switch off the calendar sync in the settings of the iphone then back on again.

Open up the calendar app, BUT DO NOT click on All Calendars (top left) until the sync has worked.

If you click on that your calendars go yellow (incomplete sync or something) and you have to start the process again.

As soon as the calendars have fully synced, you can then use the all calendar button with no worries.

Hope this helps.

My ipod touch was displaying all of my calendars merged into my default calendar in addition to the additional calendars. I logged into your site and reset the folders, and now everything looks just perfect. Thanks!

Another hint: If your phone is set to time out after a period of time, make sure that you have reset that to NEVER during those initial or resyncs. That seems to have made a difference this morning.

Just FYI, the calendars are working fine for me. The contacts on the other hand are coming on and off. My device almost ran out of power with this issue. I understand the problems, just want to make certain you are aware of this particular issue.

Everything working now for me. I got my contacts back! The only minor issue i had is with custom ringtones for my contacts. This information somehow disapeared.

Thanks for your efforts the service is great.

I mistakenly said re-sync on my WM device yesterday late afternoon. When it tried the servers were overloaded, so I was without my info for a bit :( (but hey its $0 per month). But by the evening it was able to resync, no problem.

Thanks yall!

Still no luck :S

can't wait for multi-calendar!!

What About Map Links???

I set aside the multiple calendar feature until you guys get it solid. Single calendar and contact sync seems to working perfectly. Spot on!

Thank you.

Progress!

I have a Treo 800W, lost them all yesterday.

No matter what I did, it wouldn't download the contacts. I re-authorized with google several times. I uncheck and -rechecked "sync contacts" in ActiveSync several times. (with clicking ok, and soft reset between).

No matter would I couldn't get contacts syncing (both the troubleshooting pages displayed everything as "ok" on nuevasyncs web server).

So I did a hard reset of my phone.

It appears to be working now. However it reports that it sync 338 contacts, but I have 437 in google contacts. (not counting suggested contacts). I need to try to see if some are missing.

Not syncing any contacts and only partial calendar - no matter, just keep us posted, the service is much appreciated

multiple calendars working fine for me - was able to re-sync all of them one-by-one to get the colors I wanted (using the comment guide on the following url - https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=2759507341420259744&postID=7160592693775484010 )

All set! However, some events on a read-only calendar are not syncing back further than a few months. But on another read-only calendar, they are - go figure.

You guys are amazing. The reason you ate getting so slammed with new users is because yyou have an amazing service. The other day someone said not to feel bad for the service problems as long as you keep us updates... I agree 100% and you have done exactly that. I look forests to the contribution button as well you guys deserve some kick back from all your hard work and development of this amazing system.

cmherbert said...

Jonathan - thanks for the help re: the yellow multiple calendars. This worked! Now I am iPodchromatic!

Great service. Everything is working great for me. Thank you for the awesome service!

Love your service. I use it to synchronize iPhone with Thunderbird via Google. Have been advertising you on newsgroups. And I love your style, which is to be simple, clear, and reliable. Keep up the openness, its unique.

I was waiting to comment until service was active on my account just now. It works perfectly and was worth the wait.

Thanks guys.

should everything be working now? i'm still not recieving the majority of my calendar events on my phone...just asking, thanks again

Your increased load may be from the story published on Gadgetell:

How To: Sync Google Calendar with your iPhone over the air

Unknown said...

Color question? The screen capture shown on the nuevasync.com page shows events completely blocked in in the various colors. My account has just been converted to color a few minutes ago. However, all I'm getting is a colored dot to the left of each calendar entry. Is this what everyone else is seeing or are your events completely blocked in color?
Thanks!

Everything about my contacts sync well after I did a re-sync. Thanks for the good documentation you have on your website.

A feature I would really love to use is the categories in the contacts. Will make life very easy with that.

Thanks for all the good stuff you guys are doing.

@Fifique: The "blocked" view is the Day view. The colored dots appear in List and Month view.

Any word on the map link on the calendar, when one writes an address!!!

I'm loving this service. I am now free of Outlook and itunes and couldn't be happier. However, I do fear that at any moment this could disappear as I have come to rely on it. Please legitimize this and start charging, but when you do, don't kill us...these are tough times.

Unknown said...

yeah...i get the colors... :)

but i have different colors to google calendar, is this normal?

Please continue to blog, even if the news isn't so great. I enjoy reading the updates everyday. I can't wait for email push to become available.

Speaking of email push, is there any projected date on when this will be available?

<3 this free service

No service on my end. None of my calendars are syncing :-(

Can someone email me at gingerlatte at gmail dot com? My iPhone doesnt sync back to Google Calendar but Google Calendar syncs to my iPhone.

I tried resyncing and checked all settings on both the iPhone and NuevaSync.

Is this due to the server issue? Is there a fix?

Unknown said...

Got the same problem, iPhone contacts sync to Google but Google contacts does not sync to iPhone, anything about that ?
