Plaxo Sync Back Up

We've resolved the problems with Plaxo sync (which related to the high volume of traffic we were sending to their API). Plaxo users should be syncing now.
UPDATE: it's back down again. It looks like we tripped the excessive traffic limit at Plaxo again. We're investigating...

Does Plaxo sync cover calendars as well?

While Plaxo does have a calendar, it can't be synced using Nuevasync. This is because the Plaxo API we use only supports contacts.

Still seems a bit flakey.

Since noticing this blog post, contacts have synced (since I last checked a few days ago), but I am stilling getting "Unable to login: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" error in https://www.nuevasync.com/PublicSite/user/detail-status.htm.

Also some changes I made to some contact details today haven't propagated their way through from desktop to iphone & vice versa.

Yes, it looks like we tripped the Plaxo excessive traffic limit again.

Really.... What do you expect from something owned by Comcast? >:-|

Would Plaxo being down cause an ActiveSync error? I was getting an error and as soon as I changed my contacts from Plaxo to Google the error stopped. When I change it back I still get the same error: 0x85010014. Thanks. Kris

P.S. Is there a support forum where I should have posted this?

I temporarily installed Outlook-Express again with a Plaxo-sync. Then exported the contacts from Outlook-Express and imported them into Google-contacts. Now I'm temporarily syncing with Google-contacts. Less up-to-date then Plaxo of course but "out-of-date" contacts on my PDA is better then none at all ;-)

sent this to support, but wondering if anyone else has seen the same...

i have been using nuevasync
for a few months to sync my google calendar with my iphone. i just signed up for plaxo yesterday to try to sync my contacts as well. when i set up my contact sync in nuevasync, and check my detailed status, i get the following:

Contacts : PlaxoStatus: Enabled
Username: [my email address]
Password / Token: PRESENT
Connectivity: ERROR

FULL DETAILS

Valid client state does not exist!

ERROR INFO: SitePlaxoClientState is invalid: null

this seems like it might be a problem on your end. i re-entered my password a few times just to make sure. any thoughts?

ANY PROGRESS today ?

David Boreham said...

Unfortunately we haven't heard back from Plaxo on this yet. We're going to try throttling our requests to their API even more, to see if that defeats their blocker.

Thanks for the update, hope the issue can be resolved soon.

chyams said...

does the api blocking cause the specific client state error i'm seeing? does that mean that plaxo sync is down for everyone?

Zulunia said...

I'm pretty sure noone can sync their contacts at the moment as Nuevasync uses Plaxo API to do it. Calendar etc should work afaik but not contacts until the issue is resolve. I may be wrong.

Any progress with push mail sync ?

Any signs of when nuevasync will be up and running again for my iphone. While it was working nuevasync was the real deal. It was "free" and it made contacts and calendars a breeze. Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

This is looking bleak. Should we be migrating to Google Contacts?

We've been focused on moving to a new data center. This changes our IP addresses and will resurrect Plaxo at least for a while. Still no response from Plaxo on what their traffic limits are though.

Just noticed my phones synced it's contacts so seems to be working for now.
Thanks David and fingers crossed :)

I'm guessing by changing your IP it will still trip the excessive traffic thingy at Plaxo soon ?

A core element of Plaxo's monetization is their Premium subscription package which includes Windows Mobile & Linkedin syncing, so possibly they see Nuevasync as standing on their toes somewhat. For myself, I wouldn't be using Plaxo were it not for Nuevasync so hopefully they are smart enough to see you as supporting their userbase growth.

I don't think there's any conspiriacy. Google has similar circuit breakers on their API but they only lock out individual accounts. Plaxo locks out by client IP address, so once we trip the limit all our users are locked out. Hopefully we can resolve the issue completely soon.

BRAVO!! I hope it continues!
